According to a study of hundreds of millions of Twitter users over four years’ time, data shows that people, on the whole, tweet about certain topics during certain times of the day. In the early to mid-morning, the topics of the keywords showed that people were more focused on achievement and power, and utilized more categorical and analytical types of thinking. At the end of the day, in contrast, keywords were more related to anxiety, sadness, and religion.

Key Takeaways:

  • People are most likely to Tweet about their family during weekend and meal times, and how they’re feeling at approximately 7 a.m.
  • During the early hours of the morning, users on Twitter were more apt to post sad Tweets that reflected depression and anxiety.
  • When cortisol is the highest during the hours of 6 and 10 a.m., individuals were shown to be more analytical in their posting.

“From early to mid-morning, people were clearly focused on achievement and power.”
