Who Needs Fixing: Men or Women?

By Peter Julian

March 19, 2020

Women have historically been told that they need to change their behavior in order to adapt to a world that is run by men, but why haven’t men ever been taught to accommodate their behavior to women? Audrey Nelson Ph.D. claims that women aren’t the problem in these scenarios. In fact, Nelson states that even during her years training, most books would focus on how women should conform their behavior to the needs of men, but none of this literature said the opposite for men.

Key Takeaways:

  • Some experts claim that women tend to take in large amounts of information at once which makes it hard to retain it overtime, while men take in smaller amounts that are easier for them to retain.
  • According to Audrey Nelson Ph.D., many books featured in work training are focused on how women could interact differently with men in order to change crude behavior.
  • Nelson suggests that maybe men should be met with seminars on how to act around women, just like women have been met with when it comes to interacting with men.

“Now just for a moment, think about the possibility of a seminar for men to help them navigate the workplace. In my 35 years of conducting training in 49 states and on five continents, I have never heard of such an event.”
