Three Ways to Be More Present in Relationships

By Peter Julian

January 21, 2021

There are a few different ways that you can be more present in any type of relationship. A simple way to do so is to ask that person to tell you more about themselves, their life, their projects, etc. You’re taking an interest in them and want to learn more. You also should try to reflect the most important parts of what that person is telling you back onto them. Finally, be a good listener as this will show the person you have a genuine care for their thoughts and opinions.

Key Takeaways:

  • Ask your loved one to talk to you more. If you don’t feel like you are communicating well then simply ask them to share more with you.
  • You can show people you are listening by repeating important parts of what they say back at them.
  • Offer your loved one the opportunity to talk while you sit in silence for five minutes.

“As human beings we all long to be seen and heard by another.”
