Expanding Our Capacity to Be With Chaos

By Peter Julian

December 1, 2021

Chaos is something we avoid because it causes us to feel overwhelmed, and anxious. We shut down, avoid, become scared and uncertain. Chaos can make us worry and feel like we are out of control, depending on the situation. We need to learn to take on chaos in a relaxed way. We need to need to recognize chaos and how we are feeling. Are we okay turning toward chaos and embracing it, much like we might enjoy a storm. We can get comfortable with Chaos by practicing daily to embrace it, keeping our hearts open to it, and expand our capacity to deal with chaos. We end the recognition and practice with daily gratitude. We need to find the beauty in chaos and then we will turn towards it and embrace it rather than run from it.

Key Takeaways:

  • Chaos may be overwhelming, messy, and hard to deal with, but since you can’t get rid of it, you can be part of it.
  • If you are able to start to recognize when chaos will ensue, it will make negative situations easier to deal with.
  • It’s even easy to practice something involving chaos, you just need to find the right one for you.

“I’m here to advocate for the beauty of chaos! It is the fabric of life, and we can never escape it. What we can do instead is slow down, get quiet, and open to the beauty of chaos.”
