12 Regrets You Release When Writing in a Journal

By Peter Julian

April 19, 2022

Using a journal to express your regrets can aid in helping you let go of these concerns. It’s a normal human condition to feel anger, fear, and guilt throughout a lifetime. People feel regrets in two different forms, either by commission or omission. They both result in the person beating themselves up mentally and emotionally and in accumulating additional regrets and guilt which continue to cycle in a negative whirlpool. Whether you have guilt over not spending enough time with family, worrying too much, or not living life the way you wanted to, writing in a journal provides inspiration and a method for tracking progression.

Key Takeaways:

  • You may find that you have regrets about not spending enough time with your friends and family.
  • You may regret not stepping out of your comfort zone or not traveling enough.
  • Taking yourself too seriously and worrying too much can harm your mental health.

“You’ll discover more clarity when you can tell the difference between things you can change and those you can’t alter.”
