22 Study Tips for Success

 Where to Study

Libraries are nice because usually they are quiet...

...But if you don't want to study in a library, find another space with few distractions.

Remember that to study successfully, your space should remain quiet and calm.

Also don't forget to turn off your phone and resist the urge to turn on the TV!

In order to make sure your space is well-organized, be sure to eliminate clutter.

Feeling comfortable helps you stay focused.

Tools for Studying

Note cards - or sticky notes - can help. Write important information to help you organize the material.

Additionally, there are apps that can help you with reminders to study and complete your homework.

If possible, practice for your exam by retaking an old exam (preferably on the same or similar topic).

Sometimes SEEING the information visually helps you to remember more clearly. Try making a flowchart.

Take Breaks and Stay Fueled!

Fiber and Carbs (preferably fruit or whole grains) are good snacks for studying.

And if you are concerned about your memory, B6 can give it a boost, so try a banana!

Next, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, like those found in fish, help keep your brain healthy.

Also don't forget to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Take a break every hour to prevent burn out and allow processing of what you have reviewed so far.

Preparing for Exam Day

Don't wait until the last minute - start planning everything at least 24 hours ahead of exam time.

Avoid being late by allowing plenty of time to get to the exam point.

Pack all of your supplies the night before.

Make sure to review all instructions for the exam CAREFULLY.

Other Study Tips

RELAX - feeling tense makes it more difficult to think clearly.

Studying with friends can be more effective.

Studying ahead of time will help you feel prepared and reduce stress.
