There are many things that science backs up with evidence that people still don’t take as truth. For example, many people believe that people are unmotivated when unmotivated isn’t even a real thing. People are just motivated by different things. Some people also believe that willpower is limited, however recent research shows that willpower is actually unlimited. Finally, a lot of people believe that your intelligence can improve over time. According to research, most people have a fixed intelligence that stops improving at a young age.

Key Takeaways:

  • People believe that in general, people are unmotivated. However there is no such thing as being unmotivated. People just have different motivations.
  • People also believe willpower is limited, however there is evidence that shows self-control is limitless.
  • Finally, IQ scores aren’t actually culturally biased. Intelligence is something you’re born with.

“While there is evidence to support the limitations of self-control, goal persistence, and resisting temptation over time (Muraven, 2012), recent findings suggest otherwise.”
